Mini Author Interview:

What don't you like about writing?

There isn't a thing I don't like about writing really. I love how it takes me to places and allows me to 'do' things I wouldn't in real life. :-)

What do you do marketing wise and what do you think generates the most attention to your books?

I am on the Book of Faces, but that is more to interact with other authors and bloggers really. I don't think that does a lot in the way of sales. Twitter however is another fav social media thing I'm on and I do think that works, but Google Plus is a great tool too, as is my own blog. :-)

Which of the social media sites do you think is most beneficial to indie authors?

Like I said Twitter, but then only if you as an author use it socially and not just to hurl out 'buy my books' twitterings.  And I'm a firm believer in Google Plus.

Are there any you think don't work the way indie authors think they do?

The book of Faces. I think a lot of authors really think they are reaching great numbers of readers when promoting on there while all that happens really is they promote to other authors and I don't believe most of them are buyers of books by other indie authors.

Do you find it hard to find bloggers to host and promote your work?

Not really, I find that when you interact with people, blogger or reader or other author it isn't hard at all. But a big plus is if you have shown, and continue to do so, that you are willing to return the favour. I have been hosting authors and their books on my blog for a year now and have met some great people through it, Bloggers like you Cat and just readers/reviewers, because I like to read their blogs and try my best to leave as much comments as I can, but there are so many blogs I like and I have but limited time. So I have some kind of 'rotation scheme' to ensure none get forgotten. It may be a while between my visits but I haven't forgotten about your blog if I haven't commented for a while. :-)

Many thanks to Lucy for joining us today plus the fantastic Give-Away she's got happening ~ you lucky peeps!

Join me again tomorrow as I have not one, but two posts, featuring another two fab authors.

  1. Thanks Cath for this great post! Really flashy. :-)
Remember to come to my party later on, because there's swag to win then too!
