The Demon Trappers: Forbidden ~ Jana Oliver

The Demon Trappers: Forbidden  ~ Jana Oliver

Product Description From Amazon.co.uk

Riley’s beginning to think being a demon trapper isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Her dad’s been stolen by a necromancer, her boyfriend’s gone all weird and she’s getting warm and fuzzy feelings for someone who’s seriously bad news. It’s tempting to give it all up and try to be normal, but that’s not an option.

Because the demons have plans for Riley.

And they’re not the only ones.

This is the third book in the Demon Trappers Series, while I did quite enjoy this book, it did take me quite a while to finish it.  I didn't like it as much as its predecessors, they seemed to be slightly more enjoyable.  The main character Riley is a likeable sort and she progresses well throughout the series and this book has some plot twists that, well quite frankly you never saw coming.  I don't want to spoil it for anyone that hasn't read it, so I won't say anymore apart from try it, and enjoy the series.

My rating is 4 out of 5

Tom Holt ~ The Portable Door

Tom Holt ~ The Portable Door

Product Description From Amazon.co.uk

Starting a new job is always stressful (especially when you don't particularly want one), but when Paul Carpenter arrives at the office of H.W. Wells he has no idea what trouble lies in store. Because he is about to discover that the apparently respectable establishment now paying his salary is in fact a front for a deeply sinister organisation that has a mighty peculiar agenda. It seems that half the time his bosses are away with the fairies. But they're not, of course. They're away with the goblins. Mister Tom Holt, Master of the Comic Fantasy Novel, cordially invites you to join him in his world of madness by reading his next hilarious masterpiece.

This is the second Tom Holt book I've read and as with the first, I really enjoyed it.  The author writes with great wit and his characters are very funny, I was laughing my socks off at some of the scenario's he put his main character into - the poor sap!  So if you want some twisted humour and a rip roaring read try this.
I rate this novel 4.5 out of 5 and look forward to reading more of the wacky humour that is Tom Holt.

Tom Holt ~ Barking

Barking ~ By Tom Holt

Product Description From Amazon.co.uk

Monsters are roaming the streets of London. Of course, some monsters are scarier than others: Unicorns? No bother. Vampires? Big deal. Werewolves? Ho hum. Lawyers? ...Aaargh! Duncan's boss doesn't think that he's cut out to be a lawyer. He isn't a pack animal. He lacks the killer instinct. But when his best friend from school barges his way back into Duncan's life, with a full supporting cast of lawyers, ex-wives, zombies and snow-white unicorns, it's not long before things become distinctly unsettling. Hairy, even.

I really really enjoyed this book, it was laugh out loud in places.  This is the first Tom Holt novel I have read and I will certainly be reading more in the future.  The authors humour is very dry, which appeals immensely to me and his writing style is very easy and fast to read.   The plot itself lures you into the story very quickly and you find yourself immersed in a world of corporate law and werewolves, which is a totally hilarious combination.
All in all I give this novel 4.5 out of 5  and have to say it's a highly entertaining and amusing read.
