Father Christmas ~ Spam the Cat's First Christmas by Elizabeth Ann Scarborough

Father Christmas ~ Spam the Cat's First Christmas
by
Elizabeth Ann Scarborough
with
K.B. Dundee

The second riotous and riveting installment of the 'Spam the Cat' Series!

Product Description from Amazon:

Spam the cat thought he'd seen a lot of the world in his nine months of life. After all, he was the foremost vampire hunter of Port Deception, WA. (SPAM VS THE VAMPIRE)! This was his first Christmas, and from what he'd heard on TV, on Christmas all was supposed to be calm, all was supposed to be bright.

The deer and Renfrew the raccoon had other ideas however. In an attempt to keep Renfrew, aka "The UPS Bandit" from ruining a lot of Christmases, Spam begins a task that leads to him being the sole protection of a new mother and child, and a less-than-warm-and-fuzzy reunion with his feral father.

Altogether, his first Christmas eve is a less than Silent Night.
The proceeds of this book from whatever source will be donated to the Humane Society of Jefferson County for the benefit of the animal shelter.

This second edition contains 11 original black and white drawings by cover artist Karen Gillmore and other new biographical material from the print on demand copy book, plus previews of the previous book in the series and a preview of TOUR BUS OF DOOM, Spam and the Zombie Apocalypso, the next book in the series.

Spam Vs The Vampire by K.B. Dundee & Elizabeth Ann Scarborough

Spam Vs The Vampire by K.B. Dundee
as told by
Elizabeth Ann Scarborough

A mystery adventure book with cats and vampires, purrfect for the whole family!

Product description from amazon:

Spam and the other cats at website designer Darcy Dupres’ house are frantic with worry. Darcy walked out the door two (missed) wet meals ago and didn’t return or send anyone else to look after her beloved furry friends. The other cats think that she has abandoned them, but her office cat and (unbeknownst to her) protégé, Spam, suspects darker forces are at work.

Darcy’s last project was helping a suspicious character who called himself Marcel de Montreal with a dating website for vampires and the women who dig them. Darcy thought Marcel was playing and besides, he paid her a lot of kitty litter to design the site.

But before she can finish, the self-proclaimed vampire announces that he is coming to visit, and Darcy disappears. That and the–duh–black billowy figure with the white face and red eyes peering through the window seem like a dead giveaway to Spam.

Using the computer knowledge he learned at his human’s side, Spam escapes to the world beyond his home to find Darcy and save his family. When the other cats are rounded up and hauled to the shelter, Spam’s only allies seem to be a hungry raccoon, some friendly deer, observant otters and the fact that Marcel happens to be allergic to cats.

The Twilight Saga ~ Stephenie Meyer

The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer

Unless you've been living under a bushel for the last few years, you must have surely heard of the phenomenon that is The Twilight Saga.

I have been listening to this series of books for the last few weeks and thought rather than multiple posts, I would just do one that covers them all.

Here are the product descriptions from www.amazon.co.uk

Twilight

Product Description

When 17 year old Isabella Swan moves to Forks, Washington to live with her father she expects that her new life will be as dull as the town.

But in spite of her awkward manner and low expectations, she finds that her new classmates are drawn to this pale, dark-haired new girl in town. But not, it seems, the Cullen family. These five adopted brothers and sisters obviously prefer their own company and will make no exception for Bella.

Bella is convinced that Edward Cullen in particular hates her, but she feels a strange attraction to him, although his hostility makes her feel almost physically ill. He seems determined to push her away - until, that is, he saves her life from an out of control car.

Bella will soon discover that there is a very good reason for Edward's coldness. He, and his family, are vampires - and he knows how dangerous it is for others to get too close.

New Moon

Product Description

I stuck my finger under the edge of the paper and jerked it under the tape. 'Shoot,' I muttered when the paper sliced my finger. A single drop of blood oozed from the tiny cut. It all happened very quickly then. 'No!' Edward roared ... Dazed and disorientated, I looked up from the bright red blood pulsing out of my arm - and into the fevered eyes of the six suddenly ravenous vampires.

For Bella Swan, there is one thing more important than life itself: Edward Cullen. But being in love with a vampire is more dangerous than Bella ever could have imagined.

Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of an evil vampire but now, as their daring relationship threatens all that is near and dear to them, they realise their troubles may just be beginning ...

Eclipse

Product Description

‘Bella?’  Following the international bestsellers Twilight and New Moon, Eclipse is the much-anticipated third book in Stephenie Meyer’s captivating saga of vampire romance.

Breaking Dawn

Product Description

Twilight tempted the imagination . . . New Moon made readers thirsty for more . . . Eclipse turned the saga into a worldwide phenomenon . . . And now - the book that everyone has been waiting for . . . Breaking Dawn.

In the much anticipated fourth book in Stephenie Meyer's love story, questions will be answered and the fate of Bella and Edward will be revealed.

From the Back Cover

When you loved the one who was killing you, it left you no options. How could you run, how could you fight, when doing so would hurt that beloved one? If your life was all you had to give, how could you not give it? If it was someone you truly loved? To be irrevocably in love with a vampire is both fantasy and nightmare woven into a dangerously heightened reality for Bella Swan.

Pulled in one direction by her intense passion for Edward Cullen, and in another by her profound connection to werewolf Jacob Black, she has endured a tumultuous year of temptation, loss and strife to reach the ultimate turning point. Her imminent choice to either join the dark but seductive world of immortals or pursue a fully human life has become the thread from which the fate of two tribes hangs. Now that Bella has made her decision, a startling chain of unprecedented events is about to unfold with potentially devastating and unfathomable consequences.

Just when the frayed strands of Bella's life – first discovered in Twilight, then scattered and torn in New Moon and Eclipse – seem to heal and knit together, could they be destroyed ... forever?

So, many of you will have already read this series and think that I must have been living under a bushel to take this long to get around to talking about them! But seriously, I did listen to the first two novels back in 2009, it's just taken a little longer to get to the last two in the series, so I thought I would listen to them all back to back.  A Twilight Marathon ~ you might say, and as I've only seen the first two movies (after I'd experienced the books) I've been able to have an untainted view of the books, instead of the Hollywood interpretation.

I really enjoyed the way Miss Meyer made up her own rules about vampires, it was a refreshing change to have them walking around in daylight hours, rather than being night stalkers only.  The entire series is an enjoyable journey for the reader, I have read many reviews on many websites, the good, the bad and the sometimes very ugly, however I am one for making up my own mind.

Apart from a tad too many 'long moments' and 'incredulous looks' and much 'chagrin' ~  if you read/listen without judgement and just enjoy the plot unfolding against many, many dilemmas, threats, emotional upheaval and the constant threat of danger, I think these books are most enjoyable, maybe not everyones cup of tea, but still most entertaining.  You have to keep, in my case listening, just to see what happens next and isn't that all part of a good book, a page turner.

Miss Meyer did a great job in the fact that her books are World Wide Bestsellers and that she has evoked such a mammoth response from such a vast and varied audience.  So I think she did a truly fabulous job, love it or hate it, Miss Meyer and her Twilight Saga conquered the world! Kudo's to her.

If you haven't read these books, you should, because I think you would be missing out on a vital part of our literary history in the 21st century by ignoring them.
